How to make simple viewfinder borders in Lightroom…

Written by on November 11, 2008 in Presets - 15 Comments

Hi guys, I hope you had a nice weekend. I’ve just started to renovate our kitchen so at the moment I live in quite a mess. :-/. I recently got a mail from “George” who sent me a nifty little preset. It’s not the one you’re used to download from me but I definitely think it is cool enough to mention and to make available for the rest of you. It’s called “GQ-Frame-Viewfinder-Border” and it creates a border similar to the view you get looking through and old camera viewfinder. George sent me a preset that generates a black frame, so I did another one in white. If you want to change the size of the borders/ edges, try adjusting the Midpoint slider in the Post-Crop section of the Vignettes panel.

Thank you very much for this.
Do you have anything in your bag of tricks that does a automatic stamp of your copyright/name like you have on your pictures?
    Thanks again.

    Thank you all!
    Tom,
Actually I have a post in the pipeline which will explain how to put stamps on your photos in Lightroom.

Thank you very much for all your prestes and tips on lightroom, I’m fond of your website! As my english is not so good as I would like it could appear somewhere but…I don’t know in which folder put this *.lrtemplate.
For presets I usually put it in \Application Data\Adobe\Lightroom\Develop Presets.
I’m sorry for this stupid question. Thanks in advance. Hope I could create some good preset a day to send to you ^^

    Hi Shmileblik,
What kind of template is it? The easiest way to find the right path is to… Make a new preset anywhere (in develop, slideshow, print or web). When you have done a preset you can right-click on it and explore its location.
    Cheers.

Thanks Pierre. Anyway, I’m real dumb, sorry. I put this .lrtemplate in the develop folder and it wirks very well, I got beautiful borders! I’m sorry for my stupid question :(

This is a silly question – love your downloads. How do I get them into lightroom?

    Thanks again Pierre.

Thank you Pierre, as much as I love LR I do be disappointed by it’s lack of border options.
Any other border presets in the pipeline?

    Thank you Janer!
I will look up other possibilities to add frames/borders on photos in Lightroom.
